History of Valentine’s Day

What is the reason behind celebrating this day all over the world? As we know that Valentine’s Day contains the vestiges of both traditions of ancient Romans and Christens. This day belongs to the story of a saint as he was shrouded in mystery. Who was saint valentine and how he was associated with this ancient history?
The church of catholic recognizes three different names of the saints that include Valentine or the Valentinus. Valentine was basically a priest who has served during the third century of the Romans. It was decided by the Emperor Claudius II, that single people made a better couple as compared to having the wives and families. For a young man, he outlawed the marriage.
He felt injustice in this decision and he was arranging marriages for those people who were lovers in secret. When someone discovered about this act of valentine Claudius passed the order to put valentine into death as he did not follow the law. That is why the Valentine’s Day images are made for people to represent their love.
There are some other stories related to valentine that he might have been killed for helping the Christens who escape harsh from the prisons of Romans and those Christens were getting tortured or beaten.
After considering the stories of valentine most people has given him the label of hero, romantic figure and sympathetic. That is now the valentine day has become one of the most important days for people of all generations.
